About Me

Engineering, sport, sneakers, travel, and a soft spot for old-school wrestling — a bit more about who I am beyond the code.

About Me

Hey there, I'm Ashoor — but you can call me Ash. 🙂

I’m a Principal Engineer (Engineering Manager) at the Financial Times, where I’ve been working since 2016 I currently lead teams that build the behind-the-scenes platforms and tools that help power global journalism. I spend most of my time thinking about content systems, editorial workflows, platform engineering and team growth.

I’ve been lucky enough to spend the last couple of decades working across media, sport and publishing for some very big brands — from live global athletics platforms and editorial magazines, to intranet systems for large corporations, and now large-scale newsroom technology. It’s been a constant mix of building, learning, unlearning and figuring things out as I go — which is exactly what I still love about the job and the tech industry.

Outside of work, I’m unapologetically into sport. Football, basketball, athletics — Chelsea and the Chicago Bulls have had a lifelong hold on me. I’m also a long-time sneaker enthusiast (fuelled by poor financial decisions and good design), and I travel to Australia as often as I can to see family and reset in the sun.

When I need to switch my brain off entirely, it’s usually Batman and DC comics and films, or old-school professional wrestling — specifically the WWF Attitude Era. Yes, I still call it WWF. Yes, I love wrestling. No, I will not be taking questions at this time.

If you’ve landed here through curiosity, work, shared interests, or total accident — welcome. If you fancy chatting about engineering, platforms, journalism, sport, wrestling entrances, or anything in between, feel free to drop me a line.
